These terms govern your use of Budapest Tourism Guide at www.budapesttourism.org. Reading the site means accepting them. They are short and written to be understood.

What this site is

An independent guide to visiting Budapest, published for general information. It is not a travel agency, a tour operator, a booking platform or an agent for any business mentioned in it. Nothing here forms a contract between you and any bath, hotel, restaurant, museum or transport operator.

Accuracy, and its limits

Guides are researched from operators’ own sources and re-checked as things change, but Budapest moves faster than any guide. Bath ticket prices are revised, sometimes more than once a year. Széchenyi’s outdoor and indoor sections keep different hours in different seasons. The Gellért and Király baths are shut for renovation and their reopening dates have moved before. Festival dates and line-ups shift. Tram and metro lines close for works. Forint prices move with inflation and with the exchange rate you happen to get.

So: confirm anything time-sensitive or expensive with the operator before you rely on it — opening hours, ticket prices, closure dates, age limits, whether a cabin or a locker is included. Where a guide links to the operator’s own page, that page wins over ours. We give no warranty that the content is complete, current or error-free, and to the fullest extent the law allows we accept no liability for loss arising from acting on it.

Not professional advice

Two areas need saying explicitly, because Budapest invites both questions:

• Health. Thermal bathing is described here as an experience, not a treatment. Hungary’s mineral waters have a long medicinal tradition and some pages cite research about it, but nothing on this site is medical advice. Hot mineral water at 38–40°C is not suitable for everyone — pregnancy, cardiovascular conditions, and some skin conditions among them. Ask a doctor, not a travel guide.
• Money, visas and law. Notes on forints, card fees, ATMs, tipping and entry requirements are general and can go out of date. They are not financial, immigration or legal advice. Check with your bank and with the relevant Hungarian authority or your consulate.

Drinking, nightlife and your own judgement

The site covers ruin bars, late-night districts and bath parties because they are a real part of the city. Coverage is descriptive, not an encouragement. Hungary enforces a strict zero-tolerance drink-driving limit, drug offences carry serious penalties, and the usual advice about drink-spiking and inflated bar bills in tourist areas applies in Budapest as anywhere. You are responsible for your own conduct and your own safety.

All text on this site is original and is our copyright. You are welcome to quote a short passage with a clear credit and a working link back to the page it came from. You may not republish whole guides, spin or rewrite them, or use them to train or fine-tune a commercial model, without written permission.

Photographs are used under the licences they were made available under and remain the property of their photographers. If you believe an image here infringes your rights, tell us through the contact page with enough detail to identify it and we will remove or correct the credit promptly.

Third-party names and links

Names such as Széchenyi, Rudas, Lukács, Sziget and BKK belong to their owners and are used descriptively. Their appearance here does not imply any partnership, endorsement or affiliation in either direction. External links are provided so you can verify facts at source; we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their policies.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links, including accommodation links served through Stay22. If you book after following one, Budapest Tourism Guide receives a commission from the booking provider. You pay no more than you would going direct, and a commission never buys coverage, a recommendation or a position in a ranking.

Nothing above changes: this is not a travel agency or a booking platform, and a commission paid by a booking site out of its own margin does not make it one. Your contract is with the hotel or operator you booked with, on their terms, and we have no power to change, cancel or rescue it.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorised access to it, or scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other readers. Comments are closed, so there is no user-submitted content on this site.

Changes and governing law

These terms may be updated; the date at the top shows when they last were, and continuing to use the site means accepting the current version. They are governed by the laws of England and Wales, which does not affect any consumer rights you have where you live.
